About
Hi, I’m Kai. I live in Tokushima, on the island of Shikoku, and my family is from Hiroshima. I lived in Hiroshima myself for a while, and I still go back several times a year.
Setouchi Notes is my guide to the Seto Inland Sea area: Hiroshima on one side, and Tokushima, Kagawa and Ehime on the Shikoku side. It’s written for travelers from abroad who want practical, honest answers: how to get there, what’s worth your time, and what locals actually do.
How I write these guides
- From experience where I can. Most of what’s here comes from places I’ve driven to, walked around or eaten at over many years.
- Clear about what I haven’t done. If I haven’t stayed somewhere or tried something myself, I say so and tell you where the information comes from.
- Facts checked against official sources. Prices, timetables and opening hours change. I check them on official websites when I write or update a guide, and note when I checked.
- No paid reviews. Nobody pays me to recommend a place.
What I cover
Hiroshima and Miyajima, the Shimanami Kaido, and the three Shikoku prefectures I know best: Tokushima, Kagawa and Ehime. I don’t cover Kochi much yet, because I don’t know it as well.
